Every year for thirty-six years, I will climb Mount Fuji and paint a ten-degree slice of the view from its summit. Weather, light, memory and age will change. The mountain will remain the fixed point. In the final year, the fragments will meet to form one continuous horizon—a companion across time to Hokusai’s celebrated series.
